I Don’t Think You’re Ready for This Jelly

I Don’t Think You’re Ready for This Jelly

I guess I should start off with a disclaimer; I live in a state where medical marijuana is legal and I have a valid medical card to purchase cannabis.

This strain is called Tropical Jelly and it’s grown by Flower of Life, bred by Pheno Addicts. Just look at those flecs of purple and you can imagine the linalool smell coming at you. Linalool is one of my personal favorite terpenes so when I saw the testing I had to purchase an eighth for myself.

Like I mentioned, the smell when you open the jar on this one really comes out at you, it’s semi sweet paired with some citrus notes. Once I loaded myself a bowl and smoked it, I could thoroughly taste the flavors on the exhale. That is why I purchase flower grown by Flower of Life. It is not just because it’s clean medicine that’s been grown pesticide free in organic soil but also because it’s always so smooth on the exhale. I never feel any sort of throat or chest pains after inhaling, and the lack of coughing fits after is an added bonus.

You can find a list of places to get you some of this jelly or if you’re located in Moore and have your OMMA card come visit me at Living Leaf Dispensary.

Easy Orzo Salad

Easy Orzo Salad

This has been one of my favorite dishes to make ever since my sister introduced me to it. I’ve struggled with eating disorders in the past, so cooking hasn’t always been one of my favorite pastimes. In fact, I still have a hard time cooking because I over analyze the ingredients going into the dish. Anyways BESIDES THE POINT. This orzo salad is super easy to make, and doesn’t take too long, which is why I manage ๐Ÿ˜‰

The ingredients I used are:
– Orza pasta
– Sun-dried tomatoes
– Cherry tomatoes
– Baby bell peppers
– English cucumber
– Red onion
– Pitted kalamata olives
– Parsley
– Feta cheese

Start by cooking the orzo, and once it’s been strained I like to add some of the oil from the sun-dried tomatoes to keep it from sticking. Depending on how much orzo you make increase the amount of oil accordingly.

But note that this recipe is just a collection of what I like. There are many other options and you can add or subtract any of the the ingredients you don’t like. I haven’t put an amount on the vegetables either because I think it’s all up to taste. Ben hates tomatoes so I always put less in if I know he’s going to be eating as well.

I just chop up the veggies and throw them in with the orzo. Sprinkle some of the parsley on top and stir it all together. I usually cook some halloumi to go along with this, but my online order hadn’t come in time so I used feta cheese instead! Use whatever amount suits you best.

This is such an easy meal to make, and the best part is it keeps well in the fridge so you can easily bring some lunch with you to work!

It’s Okay To Not Be Okay, OKURR?

Nervous, anxious, and excited all at the same time! ๐Ÿ’œ๐Ÿ™ƒโœŒ๐Ÿผ

This is a cause that I hold dear to my heart. Iโ€™ve struggled with binge eating and bulimia since the age of 13, and I’ve yet to win the battle. Mental illness truly has no cureโ€ฆ help me support others who are suffering as well as raising awareness for #nedawalk by making a donation to my team!

Not only was I held inpatient at Children’s Medical of Dallas who are sponsoring the event, but I also bought and read a book by the event speaker, Jenni Schaefer. Her book “Life Without ED,” helped me help myself, and helped my support network support me.

YOU ARE NOT ALONE!

Modern Advent Calendar

I’m essentially a child in an adult’s body. Actually- take that back it’s more of an adult/child hybrid considering my height. BESIDES THE POINT.

Getting back on track (this is funnier than you realize right now); I’ve started checking Google Santa TRACKER every day. You get it now? HA! Hilarious, so funny I know you forgot to laugh.

I’m assuming it’s technically meant for younger humans but you know what? It gets me in the holiday spirit so IDGAF. Basically Santa’s Village unlocks a new game or exercise each day. PLUS on the 24th the website will track where Santa is all night.

I did not know it’s been around for 13 years, this is the first year I’ve started following it as an advent calendar- but I loves it.

Birthday present to myself from me, Marc Jacobs, and I.

Classic Q – Little Ukita

I’ve sat here for at least five/ten minutes trying to find a way to phrase the song ‘Another one bites the dust’ with purse dust-bags. I guess I’m not punny enough because i can’t get a handle on it. Yeah, see?! that’s terrible.

…let’s try this again shall we?

For my birthday I decided to treat myself to a new addition in my purse collection. I bought the Classic Q- Little Ukita from Marc by Marc Jacobs at Nordstrom. I’d had my eye on it for a while and really wanted another ‘daily’ handbag, something less business minded and more ‘laid back’; hence why I settled with this bag.

(Unfortunately it’s sold out now because i bought it all the way back in July ๐Ÿ˜‚ ๐Ÿ˜‚ ๐Ÿ˜‚  that’s how good of a blogger i am.)

I considered getting the burgundy color first because it’s a great color but then I figured since this is my second Marc by Marc Jacobs handbag and my first one was burgundy, let’s spice things up. Nothing says spicy like the color black, LOL!   #storyofmylife #epicfail

Anyways, it’s a Marc by Marc Jacobs- what’s there to say?
It’s a Classic… Q ๐Ÿ˜œ .

Flora

On Wednesday I was invited to go to dinner and the theater after to see Rent’s 20th anniversary tour. Fast forward 2 hours, hair and makeup was done and we were driving to a restaurant called Flora Street Cafe in the Dallas Arts District.

Once the luxurious C-class Mercedes was valeted (kind note: only my car in my dreams) we took a group picture outside of the restaurant before arriving promptly for our 6:00 pm reservations.

Now weren’t my two dates just too handsome?

I will say this.. going to dinner with Jim you sure do get treated like royalty. The chef, Stephan Pyles, kindly greeted us at the door.

Once seated, we decided on some cocktails and champagne. The boys drank an old fashion and a Manhattan while I greedily started sipping on the Tattinger. I was basically in heaven.

For my appetizer I ate the Ahi Tuna. Not surprisingly it melted in my mouth, especially since it was paired with kiwis, tomatillos, and marchano almonds.

The others ordered dry-aged Texas wagyu beef tartare, and sea scallops. Now the scallops were SO TASTY, and probably one of the coolest dishes on the menu. They use liquid nitrogen to make coconut gellee, which basically looks like noodles. The dish also is served with ‘Jasmine Sea Essence’ which is created by pouring water over dry ice. Pretty neat.

For my main course I decided on the roast pheasant. It comes with a blackberry mojo, and a squash blossom quesadilla. It’s pretty amazing how the flavors came together so well. I really enjoyed it because unlike most upscale restaurants the food felt comfortable and filling. I guess its the epitome of Texas fine dining.

The dinner was phenominal but the company was even better. I haven’t had a meal out like that experience in a long long time and it felt very refreshing. Probably helped that the bill was also compensated so I didn’t even have to spend a penny!

Farm-to-Table

Following in true nerd fashion, I got my friend to come along to downtown of an area called McKinney in order to play Pokemon Go (I’m slightly obsessed). While we were there we decided to eat. This was a critical moment.. I get HANGRY, and that’s not a good look on anyone.

So we parked the car in the town square. I love it because it feels very old school Texas in this area, the court house is even in the middle of the square. Anyways, going off topic here. So we parked right in front of this local restaurant. Figured we’d look at the menu and after we decided ‘Why the hell not?’

So in we go and to be honest I was shocked. It was cozy, and felt very rustic. We sat at a secluded table and eyed the menu once again. We ordered the ribeye with bearnaise sauce (is your mouth drooling? Cause mine is!) and the serrano caesar salad.

The food was amazing. We had the peach cobbler for dessert and I don’t think I’ve ever been happier to live in Texas. My god the food was awesome.

So if you’re ever around downtown McKinney make sure to stop by Harvest. They’re a seasonal kitchen devoted to finding local ingredients. Plus its delish.
